WINGIN’ IT!
AUDITION INFO 2010
Saturday, August 28, 2010
Wingin’ It! is looking for new members, so if you think you’re funny, read on for a number of important dates and a few tips.
PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOP: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 at 7:00 in the SWARZITORIUM
For the second year in a row, we will be hosting an anxiety-free, non-evaluative, FREE workshop before auditions. The workshop is open to ALL CHS students, even if they have no interest in auditioning. In fact, last year about a dozen people came just to try it out and have a few laughs. We’ll break you into groups, teach you a few basic principles of improv and play some games with you. The focus is on learning and having fun.
AUDITIONS: WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 & 9 at 7:00 in SWARTZITORIUM
We’ll do some warmups as a group and have you play some games while we watch you, write notes about you, and give you scores. After you leave, we’ll talk about you.
NOTE: YOU MAY ONLY AUDITION ONE NIGHT. PLEASE DO NOT COME BOTH NIGHTS.
ALSO: Auditions are NOT open to audience members. If you come, you have to play.
ONE MORE THING: There will probably be callbacks Friday night, so if you’re hardcore, you may want to plan ahead...but if Friday won’t work, we might be able to reschedule.
AUDITION TIPS:
1. Don’t come with your heart set on getting in. Come to have fun.
If you’re too stressed out, you won’t be able to relax and show your best stuff.
2. Don’t sweat it if you play some games that end disastrously.
Sometimes it’s not your fault. You might be stuck with a terrible scene partner. We’ll recognize
that. Also, you don’t need to be “on” every moment. We aren’t.
3. Be yourself.
We’re looking for a MIX of styles and personalities. We can’t have a whole troupe of high-
energy dynamic people...it would get dangerous.
4. Don’t get dirty.
Profanity and innuendo are cheap tricks, and they get old fast. Keep it clean and show us how
quick your mind is.
5. If you aren’t selected this year, audition again next year!
50% of our current members did not get in on their first try. We sometimes make mistakes.
6. Do NOT steal other people’s characters.
Feel free to parody celebrities or CHS teachers but do NOT copy comedians original
characters...it’s like plagiarism. For example, do not play Borat.
SO WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Above all, we’re looking for people who are good listeners and pay attention. You can’t
monopolize every scene you’re in. Never quit or say “I can’t think of anything”...fight through
it. Show us that you can be loud and are comfortable with your body. DO NOT BRING
PROPS OR COSTUMES.
HAVE FUN and GOOD LUCK!!!
